I have been
feeling quite sluggish these days even though I have my 8 hour sleeps. So I started to take a mental note to see if there
is a pattern to my tiredness and if I am getting tired from eating or drinking
a particular food type.
I really don’t want to admit this, but I think
coffee and tea are making me feeling this way! Coffee and tea are my favourite drinks!! I
wake up with a coffee; I have an English Breakfast Tea for my morning tea,
Japanese green tea for the arvo break and also a Lavender Earl Grey at night to
help me relax.
I researched
on the pH of food and drinks and I found out that black teas are acidic and
coffees are really acidic. This is bad news, because apparently we should eat
80% alkaline foods and only just 20% acidic foods in order to keep a good pH
balance in our body. And guess what? All the acidic foods are all the ‘good’
stuff, like French pastries, photo chips, cookies, ice-cream, even meat and
fish?! And also alcohol!!
I want to try to modify my habits and see if I can feel more energised from it.
Realistically,
I think if I change my diet drastically, my body will not be happy and I think
I will not cope! So what I am going to do for the next couple of weeks are to
just cut down if not quit my coffee and black tea intake, (apparently green tea
is not so acidic).
So I am
going to declare here and say I will not drink any black tea or coffee for 3
weeks!!! I will see how I go without
them until the 12th of April and see how I feel then.
I am facing a great challenge already because I am going to Melbourne this weekend and Melbourne
has the best of the best coffees!!
Please wish
me luck!!

OMG~ Today is my last day of this challenge! I can proudly say that I did not touch a drop of coffee or black tea for 3 weeks in a row!!
ReplyDeleteI feel really amazing!
Okay, actually, on the very first day of this challenge, I felt really lousy and tired. But after that very first day, I felt normal again. Since then, drinking coffee or not was merely a choice of mine. And I can confirm that I feel much better without it! I don't need to take an afternoon siesta, and I feel generally more energetic!
The only hard thing is what to drink at your social gatherings. Well, I chose to drink chamomile tea if it was an afternoon tea. I chose to drink fruit juice if it was a morning break. So there are alternatives!! :D
I have been drinking A LOT of water with a piece of lemon or lime in it. And it is really nice! You can mix it up a bit and have a hot one sometimes or you can add ice to it, add some sugar or honey~ Just to make it interesting!!
I am very glad to have done this ‘No Tea or Coffee Challenge’. I have now come to realize that my body prefers me not to drink them, even though my mind wants them sometimes. So from now on, I can make a conscious decision when I need to choose what drink I am having~ \(^o^)/
